Sunrise

Since Ian & Lori's dog Howard came to live with us after the move to San Francisco we have not exactly enjoyed his early morning time clock. We can set our watch to Howard's wake up call daily at 6:am . This past Sunday morning I was looking forward to a sleep-in after driving to the beach following a late night Rocky Mount wedding. Howard was right on time. We exchanged a few words as I found his leash and made it outside for his early morning business. A few moments later I was heading back inside thanking Howard for getting me up to capture the beauty of an early morning sunrise.

A Generation

Friday I photographed 5 year old Regan Johnson. She is a beautiful little girl with a bunch of energy. We had a great time. Her grandmother wanted me to match a portrait I did of Reagan's mom Heather some 23 years ago.The girls look so much a like.

Eat Cake

Carlyn Hodge ( Nikki's daughter that works here at the studio) was having a good time today sharing her cake during her 1 year old portrait session. We never know what will happen when you place a real cake in front of a 1 year old.

Graduation Day
We were in Greenville SC this weekend for Hilliary's graduation from nursing school from University of South Carolina Upstate. It was an exciting day. She will be moving to Charleston very soon and found out today that she has a job waiting for her when she and Francois return from France visiting his family. Here is a link to a movie I put together from the weekend.

We just purchased our tickets for the Ellis Island Ferry, right out side a Green Day Convention was underway. We had a little time before the boat was ready to leave so we walked around to check it out. As we entered I noticed this guys right in front of us coming out of the ticket office. It was Ed Begley Jr from the show Living with Ed.I just walked up and said " Ed how ya doing" like I knew him. Amy was ready to hide. I noticed him right of because I used to be hooked on the TV show St Elsewhere. He shook my hand and acted like he was glad to see me.
As he started walking away I got my camera out and handed it to my sister Mary Ellen " here just point and shoot".
" Hey Ed" as I called him again. I ask him if I could get a picture with him. He was very nice about it and came over without a question. It was odd seeing someone you only know from the tv show and then right in your face.I didn't exactly smile but it was interesting seeing a TV star.It added a little excitement to the day.

Green Day
Last weekend while in New Jersey photographing a wedding we were planing a day in New York city but the weather was not exactly right. While on the way to Hoboken to visit my home town we took a side trip to Liberty Park and a ferry to Ellis Island. While there we saw the American Immigrant Wall of Honor. This structure celebrates was is the peopling of America. The wall contains over 500,000 names of those that pasted through the gateway to America. It is 262 feet across and 664 feet in length. On the wall is the name of my Grand father from my mom's side of the family.Severin Napolitano.
The story was told by my late aunt Lucy that my grandfather came over to this country on the same boat as the Statue of Liberty. It was a strange feeling to see his name on this great wall of honor. The next time you make a trip to NYC include Ellis Island.
