On The Road

Ian and I are on the road Monday morning for an exciting adventure in search of muffler man. What is that! We are driving all his stuff to San Francisco and I am going to put four days on the road. I was looking around on the internet planing the trip and came across this strange site called www.roadesideamerica.com. It gives you highlights of the oddest things on the road. They always report on this guy called muffler man. A large business icon like the one you see in the Sparano's opening video. This guy must be all over America.
We are going to view some strang sites from the window of our truck so it should be something. I hope to post reports during our travels if we can find internet access.

Back Home

It was a great trip! Amy and I did this about eight years ago and always wanted to return to New England in September.
The weather was perfect. When I turned in the rental car I was surprised to see we had driven 1,200 miles from last Friday. It didn't seem that long at all.We will try and get back to the real world but it is hard to come down from this New England high.

I spoke to Hilliary when we got home and she reminded me that I did not have a single picture of her and Francois on the site except what is on the wedding web site. What you do for one in the the family you do for both. I was somewhere last week and was asked " who did you get for your child's wedding?" We had a total team effort going. We have many friends in the photography world we call family so I called on some very close friends to be a part of this once in a lifetime event.
Cindy Smith in Raleigh from Postive Results Photography and Tim Talley from Tim Talley Photography in Reidville NC ( he is my redneck friend and would love the yellow car shot below) and Joe Gierisch from Raleigh a fellow yankee. I always enjoy spending time with and our friends Mickey and Sandra Chambers who missed Hilliary's wedding but helped with Ian's. It is so great to have friends in the business that are always willing to help and share their time and we hope to be there for them one day.

I have spent much personal time on this part of the website and hope you have enjoyed the images. I have some studio
specials coming soon so check in. If you are not on the studio email mailing list let us know so we can keep you up to date on what we have coming soon.

On The Way Home

We had a chance to spend very little time in Boston last night and enjoyed our dinner at Cheers. We took in the sights at Faneuil Hall Marketplace. I am looking forward to a return trip in April when Hilliary & Francois run the Marathron.
Yesterday was not a big picture day. We spent some time in Plymouth looking for "the rock" but never saw it.
It was a little misty and rained in the morning and throughout the area until we got to Boston. Here are a few images. See ya in NC.

In Cape Cod

We had a long day today on the road as we left Mystic Seaport and drove the Cape Cod coast line. We ended up in Provincetown.
If you have never been to this area it is truely hard to explain. We went all the way to the end for one reason because the sunsets are just beautiful over the water. It is a unique place worth a visit.
We were just riding along the coast enjoying the sights and kept on going. After spending a few hours walking and checking out the area we headed back to our hotel room in Hyannis Port about 30 miles away.
Tomorrow we pack up and make our way back to Boston for the trip home on Thursday.I am going to post a few images from today and I hope to do an early morning photo shoot in this area.

Last Night In Mystic

We are going to the Cape tomorrow and ready to leave the Mystic behind. We made a quick stop over to the indian reservation for a little gambling. We got it out of our system along with loosing $80 on the slots. This is a picture of my super dinner plate tonight.
I am just going to post a few images from today and hope you enjoy them....

Lobster Man

I can say I have had enough lobster for for a lifetime. Everything I ate yesterday had some form of lobster in it. It was like Bubby from Forrest Gump going through the shrimp list. How many kinds of lobster dishes can I find. It was worst then a day at the State Fair. But it was fun...I found this sign on the side of the road at one of the Maine Lobster pounds.

Great Surprise

We had to make our first stop for dinner at the famous Mystic Pizza. After growing up with pizza all my life I can say it was one of the best I have had. It was the first time I had a pizza with meatballs and eggplant. I wonder if I can get that one in Tarboro?
A great surprise came knocking when we came back from a ride around town. A bottle of wine and a awesome desert.
The perfect end to a big day. Thanks Hilliary & Francois.
I am lookng forward to a big pictures day tomorrow. This has been fun posting all of our trip highlights. Like an never ending post card.

Mystic Seaport

After leaving Freeport we made a quick stop for a few photos at the Portland Head Light House.
We arrived a Mystic Seaport around 3:30 today and right away I was on the street checking out the area for an early morning picture safari. Its a beautiful area and our hotel is only a half a block from the waterfront. They have a Chicos on the main drag.I guess we will be staying awhile.

Sunday Morning

Its a beautiful morning and when I stepped outside is was a refreshing 41 degrees. I got to the small harbor right when the sun was coming up over the hill across the water.
We made our last visit to LL Bean last night around 10:pm to get away from the growds after a long dinner. Today we are driving South to CT with a quick stop at the Portland Head Light House.

The Hat

Going through LL Bean is unreal. It is comforting to know that they stay open 24 hours a day just in case you have a fleece emergency or something. I did find a new hat for the one or maybe two days in NC I can use it.
I did get a chance today to get a few more images in. The sun came out and it turned beautiful. It was crazy watching this fisherman park his outboard in this maze of boats.

Start The Morning Right

The best way to get the morning going in Maine is with a lobster omlet.I can get use to this real fast.

The First Day

Eating doesn't get any better. LOBSTER and more to come.I hit the road this morning for some early sunrise images but the rain put a stop to those plans. I guess its going to be shopping today. Lucky me! I am going to try and update the images on the blog each day so check it out. It is nice to see people walking around with jackets and the temp around 50 in the evening. It should only rain today I hope....

Moving Out

Ian and Lori are making a big move to San Francisco tomorrow morning so we had a chance to do a portrait including "Howard The Dog" this weekend. Doing this portrait and knowing they are the last images together in their first home recently sold will bring back so many great memories some day. I guess we don't realize how important our job is when we are asked to capture a moment in time that will be a lasting keepsake.
I am going to change our up coming newsletter to a " Celebrating Family "theme. When it comes down to it what is more important then our families and enjoying the time we share together. The next time you consider doing a family portrait why not choose a location that has a special meaning to your next family portrait will be one of a kind.

Turtle Season

You have to watch out on the beaches this time of the year for turtles nesting. I was finishing a portrait session on the Point of Emerald Isle last weekend and noticed a few sections of the beach protected.
This is a photo of my Granddog Cooper. He was just laying on the beach and we started covering him up. He enjoyed the attention.

The Perfect Catch

One of my favorite things to do is get up early in the morning and capture the beauty of a sunrise. This weekend it was on the docks of Salter Path. This fishing boat was in just the right place. I guess I am just like a mailman taking a walk on his day off.I can't seem to put away the camera.I have other walking around images on my web site under the personal gallery if you have a chance to check it sometime.
