Tarboro Beach

If you don’t want to pay the high gas prices to drive to the beach why not try “Tarboro Beach “ for a fun beach style portrait.
It’s been so long since we set up this portrait program (because who wants to remove 10 bags of play sand from the studio the next day).
We have had a number of requests to bring back our in studio children’s beach portrait beach special. The dates are Sunday August 3rd and Monday August 4th. Our very own Brittany Thompson-Wright will be our lifeguard behind the camera capturing all the fun in the sun (or maybe under the lights).

Howard The Dog
Our dog Howard enjoyed his first time in the water. I had to drag him in but he loves to go fishing. Every time I would throw the fishing net he would jump on it to check the results. We didn't catch much but had a good time playing with the net. My man Tim Talley from Reidsville
( best photographer in the world) added the birds.

Back To The Beach
Now for my first beach portrait of the week. The wind was still blowing strong and the location was less then a mile away from where we are staying. Its going to be a two family session and we needed to finish on the family pier. When setting up a beach portrait the best time is starting at 7:pm in the evening light when the sun is soft and perfect. It was a rush to get everything in and the kids were excited to be on the beach but it was a full day.

On The Road
After the farm portrait in Oak City I was on the road to Swansboro to set up a portrait for three young family members that we have worked with for many years. Two of the kids are now married and mom wanted to sneak in a portrait of what I would call the originals. When I arrived to the house on the waterfront it was just beautiful. The wind had to be blowing 20 or 30 MPH. It was crazy. I found a small place between two houses while still seeing the water in the background. The family has many memories growing up at this location so that is why it was the perfect place for this portrait session. I was hoping this wind was not going to be around the entire week. I was now two for two and very please with my results as I headed to beach for my final portrait session of the day.

On The Farm
When doing a location portrait session I always like to arrive early so I can look around and check out areas for different groupings. It helps to check out the lighting in advance. When everyone was ready for the group I was happy with the clothing choices but I saw an area that needed a farm clothing look. At the end of the session I asked Grand dad and his Grand Son to change into working clothes for a
"real"farm image.

Beach Portraits

Our beach portrait sessions started out this week on the farm with the Purvis Family from the Oak City area. A great way to start off a full week of family portraits. The lighting and creative areas around a farm are always interesting.

The Beach
We are ready for our beach portrait week starting this Saturday on the Crystal Coast. We will be arranging other beach portrait times throughout the summer if you are interested. This past Sunday we had fun photographing the Woolard family at Ft Macon.
You have to be careful when you have the perfect pose and you want one more image, you say"just hung your brother a little". That is what adds to the fun on a beach portrait.
