Only With a Camera!
Some of the most exciting portrait sessions include the family pet. I am more
of a dog person but when I am around someone who cares for horses it always amazes me to see how they connect and interact with such a large beautiful animal. A horse is like any other pet, just another member of the family. When you are planning to get everyone together you should include this most important family member. Over the years we have received many requests for capturing portraits including horses. Take the time this Christmas season to make a special memory. There is still time left to plan a beautiful family portrait for the holidays!

It's going to be fun and we get to do this twice as much the next time very soon. We left Tarboro at 9:am and arrived about two hours before Hilliary gave birth to little Lucas. It was a flash back and a awesome moment.
We enjoyed passing him around
One of many " who let the dogs out"....
He was so alert for the first hour.
Mom & dad had a long night
He is weighing in at 8 lbs 12oz
We just arrived a couple hours before everything started to move along

Start The Weekend
It was a wild few moments in the studio on Friday afternoon once we gathered the Sessoms grand children together. This is one of those sessions you get yourself up for. Children everywhere! They did great and the twins were fun once we got all the children in the same image. It didn't take long.
Beach Portrait
Our last beach portrait of the season almost didn't happen because of the weather but we just made it. Little Connor was awesome as we made our way to the waters edge and out ran the rain. The light was soft but not that directional so I'm glad of the extra light I had on a stand to help punch up the highlights. I worked on this one throughout the weekend.

Last Monday morning our friends were leaving early for the trip back to Burlington so here I am up at 5:30am. I took a look outside and the clouds were looking good for a beautiful sunrise. I headed over to the Crab Shack next to a couple of fishing boats a placw I knew the sun would come up right about the docks.

Here are some highlights from Melissa & Daniel's wedding from Chapel Hill. The Carolina Inn is an awesome place for a wedding. The lighting is beautiful and the everything just works so well. I am looking forward to the wedding I have there in September. It is always nice to get some pose ideas at a location you can use again. This was my second time working at the Carolina Inn.

Looking for the light
During a location portrait session I am always looking for just the right light to us use during a portrait session. This afternoon I think I have found the perfect light ever but the bad thing is will be very hard to come by again.
We started the Ft Macon beach session early because of the upcoming storms in the area.I was pushing some but can see by the sky everything was looking great. The light was soft through long thin clouds and looking like I made the right call. All of a sudden the clouds started getting darker and much darker over the Ft Macon inlet area. It wasn't looking good as we were almost near the edge of the water to finish the session. Just then the temperature must have dropped 10 degrees as a cool wind started to blow. The light was just beautiful with half of the sky in almost complete darkness and the other half in soft light. It looked light a huge soft light was set up on the beach. It doesn't get any better but it also doesn't last long either. As I finished a handful of images not wanting to stop we had to go fast. You can see the sheets of rain across the inlet " time to go". We just made it back to the car before the rain came.
I didn't want to leave! You just don't get that kind of light control when children on the beach are doing well. It was the perfect storm for true portrait lighting. This is getting deep.

A group of photographers in Tarboro are presenting a photographic display at The Blount Bridgers starting tomorrow through the end of July. I would like to invite you to the openning tomorrow night at 5:30. I am looking forward to my first display of non portrait images. I have been getting into doing landscapes for sometime and I have six recent images in the show.
This image was taken in Wilmington while attending a wedding last year. One of my favorite things to do when I travel is to get out early in the morning to capture the local attractions. If you have time come by and visit the photo display.

I happen to be going through the area and captured my own. This image and others will be on display at The Blount Bridgers House in Tarboro throughout June & July for a photography display from local photographers. I am honored to be a part of the display so I will forward details on the dates. Hope you can attend.

It was a close call for Brendan and his boys as the "Justin Barnhill" land torpedo was on target to sink the canoe. They turned just in time but they were hit as they arrived on shore. The fun begins for Carla & Brendan as they start enjoying the road to a beautiful wedding in October. Great Pig picken Fun!

Easter Special
Today was a great day for our Easter Special. I think I have the best rabbit ever. Everyone was asking what drugs we are using to keep the rabbit so still. We have two days left and every year one out of the three days is always a nightmare. I am keeping my fingers crossed for tomorrow and the rabbits well fed.

PEEPS
We had tons of fun Friday shooting images for an upcoming newsletter showing my sweet love for Marsh Mallow Peeps. I don't know what started this idea but I will say no Peeps were harmed in the photo process of this session. A bunch were eaten!.
It took 30 boxes of Peeps and lots of paper towels to get those sticky birds off our hands. We are now ready for Easter. If you are a fan of Marsh Mallow Peeps you can go to the Peeps website and join the fan club or get a real life. As if I don't spend enough time on the computer.I think my all time favorite is the old fashion yellow bird Peeps. I do like the white snowman.
All I have to do is a row of Peeps in the morning and I am ready to fly.
